Scrub tunics and coats with practice logo: position and names
For practices, care and beauty: when a scrub tunic and when a coat fits, where practice logo and name go and why we recommend embroidery for clothing that is washed hot and often.
Tunic or coat: what suits your practice?
In a practice, the team wears clothing that is washed every day and still has to look neat. The logo shows patients and clients at a glance who belongs to the team. The first question is which garment suits your daily routine.
Our work coats with your logo come from Karlowsky: the Sara women's tunic and the Basic women's and men's coats. All three have a patch breast pocket on the left. The differences according to the product data:
| Criterion | Short and sleeveless Sara tunic | Long, lapels Basic coat |
|---|---|---|
| Cut | V-neck, sleeveless, loose fit, 4 press studs | Lapel collar, loose fit, 4 buttons, women's version with bust darts |
| Material | Twill weave of polyester with cotton, 215 g/m² | Twill weave of pure cotton, 185 g/m² (men) or 205 g/m² (women) |
| Washing | Washable up to 95 °C, suitable for industrial laundry and tumble dryer | Washable at 60 °C, can be dry-cleaned |
| Colours | White, black, blue, red, bordeaux | White |
| Sizes | Women's 34 to 56 | Women's XS to XXL, men's S to 3XL |
The tunic leaves the arms free and is practical when you move a lot. The coat covers more and looks classic, for example in consultations or at reception.
Which garment for which job?
The easiest way to decide is by your working day. These cases help you choose:
The clothing is washed very hot or by a laundry service.
Sara tunic
Care or therapy with lots of movement, arms should be free.
Sara tunic
Beauty salon or practice with a colourful look, such as black or bordeaux.
Sara tunic
Consultation, pharmacy or lab, classic in white.
Basic coat
Women and men should wear the same model.
Basic coat
Often the best answer
Combine both
The coat for consultations and treatment, the tunic for the team. With the same logo, both work together.
Tunic + coat
If your reception staff prefer a blouse or shirt, you will find tips on thinner fabrics in our guide embroidering shirts and blouses with your logo.
Where does the practice logo go?
The left breast pocket determines the position. Embroidering through a patch pocket would sew it shut. That is why the logo usually sits on the right chest. On the left there is room for the name above the pocket.
| Position | Tunic | Coat | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Right chest | Yes | Yes | Practice logo |
| Left, above the pocket | Yes | Depending on space below the lapel | Name, small logo |
| Upper arm | No, sleeveless | Yes | Second logo, initials |
| Back | Yes | Yes | Practice or service name, clearly visible on home visits |
Keep logo and name apart
Logo on the right, name on the left: that way both stay small and legible. You will see how it looks on your model in the digital preview before production.
Matching garments
Design them in the shop
Embroidered names: personal and practical
An embroidered name replaces the name badge. It does not hang crooked, does not slip and does not get lost in the wash. For patients it is easier when they can address the person in front of them by name.
With names, legibility matters most. Choose a clear font without flourishes and a thread colour that contrasts with the fabric. On a white coat a dark colour works, on a black or bordeaux tunic a light one.

From the workshop
Contrast makes lettering legible
The photo shows white lettering on dark grey fabric. Light thread on a dark background stays easy to read even from a distance. That is exactly how we plan names on coloured tunics.
If your team changes often, a mix pays off: clothing with logo and name for the permanent team, a few items with just the logo for temporary staff.
Hot washes: embroidery or print?
Practice clothing is washed often and thoroughly. According to the manufacturer, the Sara tunic is washable up to 95 °C and suitable for industrial laundry, the coats at 60 °C. We print and embroider both in our own workshop. For this kind of washing we usually recommend embroidery: it is sewn into the fabric, looks high-quality and lasts many washes.
Embroidery for logo and names
Robust with frequent, hot washing
Tell us your washing method
Let us know in your enquiry whether you wash yourselves or use a laundry service
Very large, filled areas
Make the fabric stiff; a compact logo is better on practice clothing
What about hygiene?
Side noteWhich clothing is allowed in your facility and how it must be washed is set by the hygiene rules of your practice or provider. We cannot advise on that. We give you the manufacturer's details on material and wash temperature so you can choose the right model.
How your order works with us
First plan who needs which garment, and collect sizes and names. If you are introducing clothing for the whole team, our checklist for introducing company clothing will help.

You choose a tunic or coat in the shop and upload your practice logo. You send the names as a list.
Advice and embroidery file
We advise you on position, size and thread colour free of charge. The embroidery file is included, with up to three thread colours.
Print approval
You receive a digital preview and approve it before production.

We embroider in our own workshop. Delivery usually takes approx. 7–10 working days.
Tunics and coats with logo: FAQ
Where does the logo go on the tunic?
Usually on the right chest, because a breast pocket is sewn on at the left. Above the pocket there is room for the name.
Can each tunic have a different name embroidered?
Yes. The logo stays the same, the name changes for each garment. Just send us a list of names and sizes.
Does embroidery survive washing at 95 °C?
Embroidery is considered very robust in the wash. The permitted temperature is set by the garment: according to the manufacturer, the Sara tunic is washable up to 95 °C, the coats at 60 °C. Tell us how you wash, and we will take it into account in our advice.
Is the coat available in colours?
We stock the Basic coats in white. For colour, choose the Sara tunic in black, blue, red or bordeaux.
